Due to substantial government backing KiwiRail is undertaking a generational investment programme to upgrade our fleet, our rail networks and our plant and facilities. With a multi-billion project portfolio, we a seeking a Senior Project Finance Partner to join our commercially focused finance team, and make their mark on New Zealand’s rail infrastructure.

Your Role:

This role is a combination of financial project support to control costs and manage project spend, but also as a strategic advisor to the programme leadership team – ensuring financial performance of the programme by identifying and raising financial risks to the governance team, reporting on risks, trends and providing sound commentary and insight of actual and forecasted performance.

As a key member of the Capital Projects & Asset Development finance team, you will be comfortable working in an infrastructure development environment -  working proactively across multiple project streams and with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment and sound financial management of our projects. We are looking for someone with very solid business partnering skills as you will be working alongside the Programme Director and Project Manager/s to gain an in-depth knowledge of the projects' activities, ensuring financial forecasts, budgets, and costs are aligned and on track.

Your Skills:

You will hold a CA or equivalent qualification with significant post-graduate experience – ideally with some infrastructure or construction understanding. You will have proficiency in Excel and SAP (or similar ERP tool) and proven ability in visualising the full picture of a project. Building strong relationships with a Project Management Office and the wider business, including senior leaders is something that comes naturally to you and forms an integral part of your ability to achieve results.
