Your Role:

As Field Production Manager for the Network Operations Centre (NOC) based at our offices in Otahuhu, you will manage the work happening in the network from a quality, incident and accident/emergency point of view.  Your core track experience is essential for you to investigate network operations and notify stakeholders on anything that will have an impact to our delivery to deadlines.


As KiwiRail works 24/7 your work will be fully rostered.  As such you will be expected to work 12 hours on 12 hours off for 10 days which can be early mornings, nights or weekends as per the schedule and then have 4 days off.


You’ll be working across a variety of programmes across Auckland Metro, where no two days are the same.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Leading local experienced-based field input into job and resource planning
  • Being first point of reference for Gangers and field staff needing practical field advice on job delivery
  • Ensuring Gangers within your area are delivering the right quality work using agreed systems and methods
  • Supporting Operation Manager - Production and others with over-view of the portfolio of work to ensure it running appropriately
  • Providing technical experience at job completion and progress milestones


Ultimately, you demonstrate the KiwiRail Frontline Leader competencies to build and lift team performance and ensure adherence to Codes, Standards and Rules.


Your Skills:

  • Strong background in track and or structure maintenance with a sound knowledge of Codes, Standards and Rules
  • Leadership skills and the ability to grow a high performing team
  • Computer literate with experience with SAP or similar work project planning software
  • Project management, research, and analytical skills
  • A commitment to Zero Harm
  • 15 years rail experience in core track and track inspection experience
  • Master track qualifications in asset and inspections


Beside the above your strong communication skills will need needed to organise, influence, and relate well to others.  Must also be able to work autonomously and prioritise conflicting demands.
