Your Role:

Based at our Westfield depot in Otahuhu, Auckland and reporting into the Senior Asset Engineer Auckland North, you will be support the Auckland Metro and Greater Auckland Asset teams in delivering technical excellence, continuous improvement, and satisfaction to our customers and stakeholders.


These teams have the core functions of Asset Management, Planning, Scoping and Auditing Track, Structures and Civils works where you will be responsible for supporting them in these engineering aspects and all maintenance work in the railway infrastructure (civil, structures and track assets).


Primary responsibilities:


  • Provide expert technical advice for civil, structure and track maintenance and upgrades.
  • Produce and peer review design solutions for civil, structures and track assets.
  • Support the development of asset management strategies for civil, structures and track assets.
  • Deliver and support maintenance and renewal projects, working with contractors and liaising with third parties.
  • Lead and support civil, structures and track and engineering inspections.
  • Deliver trainings to Field Asset Engineers, Track Inspectors, Structures Inspectors, PDS Evaluators, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
  • Provide technical support to Asset Engineers as required.


In this position there will be a need to travel up North to Whangarei once or twice a fortnight as well as work 1 weekend per month and 1 night shift per week.


Your Skills:

Besides your tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, you will have solid railway asset management experience. 


Always being engaged and motivated to achieve business and group KPIs as well as customer-focused to exceed service delivery expectations.  You will be collaborative, respectful, engaging, and supportive within the team.


Your strong written and verbal communication skills will come in handy to effectively present information and advice to a range of audiences.  Being innovative, creative, and focused on continuous improvement will work well towards this.


Being organised and able to manage conflicting demands achieve deadlines and deliver responsibilities as well as being flexible and responsive to changing priorities will be needed.
