Our depot is in seeking qualified Fitter Turner/Welder. In this role you will be responsible for maintenance and repair of the wagon and freight fleet in the Addington depot.

 

The successful candidate will carry out the various maintenance checks, repairs, on site breakdown style work and general maintenance work to meet a delivery plan for the depot as set out in the Rail operating code with the view to improve reliability and availability of the fleet.

 

This role also includes the operation of the underground wheel lathe having general fitting and turning knowledge with trade related skills to maintain the rolling stock specifications of the fleet on a daily basis when required.  It also includes shunting and driving duties with general AM train operations and yard work in a team environment and will involve day shift work at Depot.

To be successful in this role as a Tradesperson (Mechanical Engineer) you will need:

 

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with heavy industry or automobile industry experience and machine upgrades, or experience in wagon, ship or similar environments.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret hydraulic & pneumatic control circuit diagrams, fault finding, develop alternate methods
  • A good knowledge of relevant Engineering specifications, standards, sound engineering practices.
  • Able to read shop drawings
  • Lathe operations and fitter and turner skill related work.
  • Hydraulic air rams – re-kit & full remanufacture
  • Unsupervised site work (normally fitting type work)
  • Committed to safe working practices
  • Welding and hotworks.
  • Computer related skills for the role, Microsoft office related products.
  • Be committed to supporting a team environment.
