Key Responsibilities:

As a Trainee Traction Electrician, you’ll:

• Assist in the maintenance, installation, repair, and restoration of electrical components in high-voltage traction systems and substations.
• Perform inspections and testing under supervision to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Participate in Toolbox Meetings and contribute to team decision-making.
• Maintain professional behaviour when interacting with colleagues, contractors, and the public.
• Adhere to KiwiRail’s health and safety policies, ensuring the wellbeing of yourself and others.
• Undertake on-the-job training and attend relevant courses to acquire the necessary competencies.
• Learn from experienced team members while building a strong foundation for your career.

What You’ll Need:

• NCEA Level 1 or equivalent, a class 1 driver’s licence.
• Strong willingness to learn, with basic knowledge of electrical systems.
• Ability to work outdoors, in a team, and commit to safety standards.
• Qualified registered Electrician with a current EWRB practicing licence.
