He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role 
As a Duty Roster Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of KiwiRail's operations, managing rosters for Locomotive Engineers, Terminal, and Container Terminal staff. Your work ensures the seamless functioning of our rail network, meeting critical Health and Safety requirements while keeping our team ready for anything. 

  
You’ll balance priorities, respond to challenges, and ensure staffing levels support our safety and efficiency goals. With every shift, you’ll resolve roster-related queries, find cover for absences, and leave the day’s challenges behind as you head home. 

 

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring: 
We’re looking for someone with: 

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written 
  • A positive attitude with a knack for solving problems in a dynamic environment 
  • Adaptability and resilience with a solution-focused approach 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Preferably, experience in roster coordination 
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, such as the Holidays Act and Rest and Meal Breaks Amendment Act
