As a Duty Roster Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role at the centre of KiwiRail’s operations. You’ll be responsible for coordinating rosters for Locomotive Engineers, Terminal, and Container Terminal teams, ensuring our network runs safely and efficiently.
You’ll:
- Manage and maintain staff rosters to meet operational and safety requirements
- Respond to roster changes, absences, and unexpected challenges in real time
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times
- Resolve roster-related queries quickly and effectively
- This is a fast-paced, problem-solving role where no two shifts are the same—and where you can leave work behind at the end of each shift

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can stay calm under pressure:
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
- A positive, solution-focused mindset
- Ability to adapt quickly and show resilience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience in roster coordination (preferred)
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Holidays Act, Rest and Meal Breaks Amendment Act) is advantageous
