HR Business Partner - Kiwirail

How would you like to contribute to the growth of an iconic organisation with a focus on sustainability and providing a legacy for the future?  With an increase in work and the creation of new teams to deliver the rail upgrade programme we need an experienced HR business partner to join us.


We are a business on a transformational journey preparing for our future and structuring our teams to be ready for this change. The role is fixed term for 2 years, and has been created to provide HR support and advice to the Capital Projects and Asset Development (CPAD) operation as we grow to deliver rail infrastructure upgrades across New Zealand.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Programme streams to provide HR support and advice.
  • Using your business acumen to drive best practice in support of organisational goals.  


Key Attributes:

We need someone who can work at a fast pace, has solid human resources experience, current knowledge of NZ employment legislation and a level of comfort working with business units that are unionised.

A role in our industry is hands on – sometimes you’ll be in a high viz and workboots out on site, and other times in our corporate or project head office.


Your Skillset:

We are a complex and ever-changing business, you’ll be confident driving change and influencing outcomes. You’ll be used to having the opportunity to make a real contribution and difference.

  • Proven experience of business partnering and working as a trusted advisor – preferably within an operational environment
  • An ability to influence and inspire your managers to achieve success through their people.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Skills to work in HR operations and manage the full suite of HR duties.
  • Ideally experience in working within unionised environments.
