The requirement for accessible, reliable and modern rail infrastructure is viewed as essential for the ongoing success of the city. More investment is underway to accommodate growth and to prepare the trains and tracks for the future.


Our Programme of work for the upgrade of the Auckland Metro Rail Network is progressing quickly and we have a completion target in 2024.


The Role:


To ensure we meet our Rail Network Renewal milestones and stay on track we need a Senior Project Manager to join our team.


Based at our Westfield Depot and Sylvia Park office, the Senior Project Manager – Renewals, will be responsible for delivering a programme of work that will include projects within Rail Infrastructure, Track, Track bed, Civil & Construction, as well as Contract and Change Management.  This role will provide technical and project leadership to our project teams and is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of our project goals.


About You:


Ideally the successful candidate will have an extensive background in the delivery of works in a complex rail operating environment.

In addition you will need:


  • 15+ years’ experience at a senior leadership level in a complex projects environment, including leading a team
  • Experience in commercial and contract development and mangement
  • Experience in the development of smart procurement and delivery models
  • Experience in delivering civil and structural works projects in a heavy construction and rail environment
  • Relationship management skills specifically in dealing with internal and external customers, stakeholder management and community liaison
  • Knowledge of the rail transport sector, relevant legislation and transport and rail safety issues
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction or another related tertiary qualification
