Your Role:

You, within the Design Engineering team, will support Planning & Engineering in delivering technical excellence, continuous improvement, and satisfaction to our customers and stakeholders.


Your will report to the Engineering Design Lead Structures and will be responsible for assisting with engineering aspects of design and maintenance work for railways infrastructure structures assets.


The primary role responsibilities include:


  • Assessment and development of geotechnical engineering solutions
  • Scoping and supervising geotechnical site investigation works
  • Assisting to design solutions for slopes, embankments, railway formation and retaining walls and other geotechnical assessments
  • Experience with the design of substructure and earthwork for bridges, tunnels, culverts, seawalls, lighting towers would be advantageous.
  • Providing technical advice for the design and upgrade of civil and structures assets.
  • Overseeing design and renewal projects, managing contracts and liaising with third parties.
  • Supporting training and supervision of junior engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring.


Your Skills:

A tertiary Engineering degree along with 5-10 years’ experience as a designer is essential for this role.  You will also need experience with relevant design software, ability to work independently and a proven track record of developing designs from concept to construction.


You will need strong organisation skills to manage conflicting demands to achieve deadlines and deliver responsibilities.  You will be collaborative, respectful, engaging, and supportive within the team with excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to effectively present information and advice to a range of audiences.
