We have an opportunity for a Health and Safety professional to join us as a Zero Harm Advisor. This role is a field based position that provides Zero Harm support to our project teams who are managing the delivery of new infrastructure to New Zealands rail network.

 

Your Role:

As a Zero Harm Advisor for our Capital Projects and Asset Development business you will be part of our safety team looking after a number of projects across this programme of works.

You will work alongside our project teams to cultivate safe work practices, further build on our safety culture journey, facilitate the implementation of Zero Harm Programs, and proactively enable teams to improve Zero Harm performance.

You will be an experienced professional who has safety in your DNA. As a Health & Safety specialist you will be comfortable working in a complex operational environment which includes a large team working in a live infrastructure/construction environment. You will feel at home undertaking risk assessments alongside managers and front foot addressing safety issues. By supporting leaders to engage with their teams and achieve compliance you will champion our philosophy of Zero Harm- to actively care and protect our people, our business and the environment.

Other key aspects to the role includes, monitoring compliance with workplace policies and procedures, conducting site ACC audits, incident investigations, HS audits of contractors and also workplace rehabilitation.

 

Your Skills:

Experience in an HSE capacity within a comparable industry and exposure to working within a unionised workforce will be advantageous

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
  • The ability to drive change and support teams to foster a positive Zero Harm culture
  • Drive and the determination to deliver break-through Zero harm outcomes
  • A relevant HSE qualification or experience with the ISM Code, SOLAS Convention, NEBOSH or similar
  • Experience in ICAM or Tap Root investigation or other similar processes
  • Highly proficient in report writing
