The Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS) group has overall responsibility and ownership for managing KiwiRail’s rolling stock assets, including mainline and shunt locomotives, freight and specialist wagons, containers, passenger carriages and other rolling stock vehicles and equipment. 

 

Project Engineer roles are primarily responsible for managing delivery of rolling stock projects, including ownership of scope, budget, variations and day-to-day governance of progress.

  • Level 5 ME or NZDE and/or Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics) or a related discipline. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in complex project delivery, engineering, or maintenance roles in a heavy industrial environment. 
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge of best practice project management systems and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, interpret and present complex data in a way that is clear and easy to understand. 
  • Knowledge of relevant asset management methodologies, engineering specifications, standards and sound engineering practises.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to interact effectively with shop floor personnel.
