Are you a qualified and registered electrician looking to advance your career in a role that combines technical expertise with leadership? KiwiRail has an exciting opportunity for a Leading Hand Traction Electrician to join our team and help power New Zealand’s rail network.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a team of Traction Electricians to maintain, install, and repair overhead traction systems and high-voltage electrical components.
• Perform isolations, provide work clearances, and ensure all work complies with safety standards.
• Use and maintain traction test equipment, tools, and plant to deliver high-quality results.
• Assist in trials and design evaluations for new equipment and methods.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and filed appropriately.
• Empower and lead your team to achieve high productivity while fostering a safety-first culture.
• Actively encourage team suggestions to improve health, safety, and efficiency.
• Adhere to KiwiRail’s safety policies and ensure your team operates safely and responsibly.

What You’ll Need:

• Essential to be a qualified and registered electrician with a current practicing licence (EWRB registration is a must).
• Experience with high-voltage switchgear and overhead traction systems.
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to supervise and empower teams.
• A class 1 driver’s licence and current first aid/CPR certification.
• Desirable to have a class 2 driver’s licence, forklift operating licence, or registration as an Electrical Inspector.
