He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
The National Resources Planner/Scheduler is primarily responsible for assisting the National Resources Manager in the planning and day to day management of the wagon fleet and panel lifters. Reporting to the National Planning Manager, you will focus on managing an effective capacity planning process and maintaining a valid Master Schedule to establish accurate requirements and dates for forward scheduling and level loading, especially when demand peaks are greater than available capacity. This role also includes coordinating the scheduling of planned maintenance works in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements.
You will ensure that the activities planned are sufficient to fulfil our customers’ requirements and any modifications, and that improvements or other maintenance interventions are planned to be completed with minimal disruption to the fleet.
No two days will ever be the same in this multi-faceted role and you will be involved in site visits across the country, which will mean occasional national travel across the country.

To excel in this position, you will have
- Experience working with teams in an operational environment and an excellent, customer focused communicator across all levels of a business
- 3 + years’ experience in similar planning/scheduling role
- A commitment to a Zero Harm culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well under time, location, and customer pressure with a proven ability to apply sound judgement to decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in working in complex regulated operating environments
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling principles, with proficiency in analysis and reporting software suites including Microsoft and SAP. Ideally, you would have some practical experience in a field relevant to rail and transportation.
