As a Senior Business Analyst in our Design and Analysis Practice, you will help KiwiRail address complex, high-value business challenges. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on turning ambiguity into clarity and supporting confident decision-making.

Working closely with leaders, operational teams, and delivery specialists, you will shape how problems are defined and solved across strategy, operations, customer experience, and technology.

You will:

  • Turn loosely defined problems into clear, decision-ready insights
  • Design fit-for-purpose discovery and analysis approaches
  • Lead service, process, and value stream analysis
  • Partner with stakeholders to shape practical solutions
  • Support executive decisions with clear analysis and visualisation
  • This role suits a senior practitioner who enjoys working directly with the business and delivering organisation-wide impact

 

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:

You will bring strong judgement, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset, along with:

  • Five or more years’ experience in business analysis or service design
  • Strong skills in problem definition, requirements analysis, and solution shaping
  • Experience with Lean or continuous improvement frameworks
  • Confidence engaging senior leaders and facilitating complex discussions
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, accessible artefacts
  • Understanding of IT systems, delivery approaches, and data-informed analysis
  • A calm, adaptable approach to change and competing priorities
  • A strong commitment to safety, wellbeing, and inclusive ways of working

Relevant qualifications and professional certifications are preferred.
