He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
We’re looking for a Senior CAD Designer to join our Engineering Design Support team in Auckland or Wellington. In this role, you’ll:
- Produce and review 2D and 3D designs that meet rail industry standards.
- Maintain and improve document management and design systems.
- Provide training, mentoring, and peer support to promote CAD and BIM best practice.
- Manage external design support resources to ensure quality and value.
- Develop CAD libraries and drawing standards to support consistency and excellence.
You’ll play a key part in KiwiRail’s transformation by helping deliver innovative and reliable design outputs that support our people, customers, and communities.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring
We’re looking for someone who is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and a strong team contributor. You will also bring:
- 4+ years’ experience in linear infrastructure, CAD design, with proven ability in 2D and 3D engineering modelling.
- Knowledge of ISO or similar quality systems and experience using survey data.
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM software, Microsoft Office tools and Civil3D.
- A recognised qualification in technical drawing (a diploma in design or engineering is desirable).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to adapt to evolving digital engineering practices.
- The ability to pass regular drug and alcohol screening.
Membership of Engineering NZ or equivalent professional affiliation is preferred.
