He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead important safety initiatives as part of our Toitū Te Mauri Safety Culture Programme.
Starting with Critical Risk Management, you’ll manage project delivery from planning to business-as-usual transition. Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll ensure projects meet safety, quality, and schedule expectations while supporting cultural change across KiwiRail.
This role is key to embedding a stronger, more mature safety culture—one that protects our people and supports KiwiRail’s long-term success.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:
You’ll be an experienced project leader with the ability to work across complex programmes and engage with diverse stakeholders. Ideally, you bring:
- At least 7 years’ experience in project or programme management
- Proven delivery of enterprise-level projects, preferably in safety or infrastructure
- Strong skills in risk, change, and financial management
- Clear communication skills, with confidence engaging at senior levels
- A collaborative style, able to influence without formal authority
- A commitment to safety, wellbeing, and inclusive practices
- Relevant qualifications in project management, business, engineering, or people leadership
- Change management, LEAN, or Agile knowledge (desirable)
Other requirements:
- Current NZ driver’s licence
- Ability to travel occasionally across New Zealand
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
