As a Supply Chain Analyst, you’ll provide the insights that help keep KiwiRail’s freight network operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. 

Working across the rail freight supply chain, you’ll support planning and decision making by analysing network performance, asset availability, and operational capacity. Your analysis will directly influence freight planning, customer outcomes, and cost efficiency. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Support the monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) cycle through analysis, reporting, and scenario modelling 
  • Analyse rail network utilisation, locomotive and wagon availability, and terminal throughput 
  • Identify constraints and bottlenecks, and recommend practical, end-to-end supply chain improvements 
  • Develop models to compare operating scenarios, timetables, and asset configurations 
  • Create dashboards and reports tracking service performance, asset utilisation, and cost drivers 
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and nontechnical audiences 
  • Partner closely with Operations, Commercial, Network Planning, Assets, Terminals, and Finance teams 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and stronger operational resilience

We’re looking for someone who is curious, practical, and focused on delivering better outcomes. 

You will bring: 

  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, transport, or operational planning 
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills 
  • Confidence using data and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, and SQL, with experience in Python or R being is desirable 
  • The ability to turn complex data into clear operational insights 
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders 
  • A collaborative mindset and positive team approach 
  • A strong focus on safety, service, and continuous improvement 
  • The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment 

It would be an advantage if you also have: 

  • Experience in rail, freight, heavy transport, or other asset intensive industries 
  • Knowledge of IBP, S&OP, network modelling, or optimisation techniques 
  • A relevant qualification in supply chain, logistics, transport, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
