He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As a Supply Planner within our Operations Planning team, you will contribute to the smooth running of KiwiRail’s supply operations. You will analyse customer requirements, and develop the 36-month aggregate supply plan, aligning supply chain processes with business needs.
This role requires analytical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams to optimise operational performance. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure supply plans are efficient, robust, and adaptable to changing demands.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Converting demand forecasts into a clear, actionable supply plan
- Conducting scenario planning and risk assessments to enhance supply chain resilience
- Collaborating with operational leaders to assess and improve capacity planning
- Using data analysis and visualisation tools to communicate supply trends and insights
- Monitoring and refining supply plans to support KiwiRail’s business objectives

We’re looking for someone who combines technical supply planning ability with a collaborative and proactive mindset. You’ll be confident navigating change, analysing data, and working with others to deliver effective planning outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in planning, with strong knowledge of supply planning principles within IBP or S&OP environment.
- Expert user of the data analysis and reporting tools
- Industry knowledge in rail, logistics, or supply chain (advantageous)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communicator who works well across teams
- Adaptable, results-focused, and comfortable using and learning planning tools
Other requirements:
- Ability to pass regular drug and alcohol screenings
- Current and valid New Zealand Driver’s Licence
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree in supply chain planning, logistics, or analytics, or equivalent post-tertiary education
- Industry certifications in supply chain or logistics (preferred)
