Position Description

 

He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As a Technical Lead in Infrastructure Services, you’ll provide hands-on technical leadership across KiwiRail’s core infrastructure platforms particularly in the Netscaler ADC space. You’ll design and deliver secure, reliable, and scalable systems that support critical operations, leading the technical stream across projects while supporting business‑as‑usual services.

Working closely with Architecture, Cybersecurity, Applications, vendors, and operational teams, you’ll ensure infrastructure solutions align with KiwiRail’s ICT strategy and operational needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead technical delivery across infrastructure projects and operational services
  • Review and guide solution designs to ensure security, resilience, and cost effectiveness
  • Remove technical roadblocks and support teams through complex challenges
  • Support infrastructure across the full lifecycle from design to BAU handover
  • Champion best practice in automation, monitoring, cybersecurity, and platform management

Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:

  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler / ADC and enterprise networking concepts
  • 7–10 years’ experience in enterprise infrastructure or platform engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper‑V, Active Directory / Entra ID, Exchange, DNS/DHCP
  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler / ADC and enterprise networking concepts
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux environments
  • Experience delivering infrastructure projects end‑to‑end
  • Working knowledge of Azure and hybrid cloud
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, pragmatic approach
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or ITIL or vendor certifications
