He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

As a Terminal and CT Scheduler based in Auckland, you’ll be at the heart of KiwiRail’s freight and container terminal operations, helping ensure our network runs smoothly and efficiently. In this role you’ll plan and optimise terminal and container scheduling to meet customer needs, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and operations stay on track. You’ll work closely with teams across the business - from executives to terminal staff, balancing priorities, resolving challenges, and refining plans for the best outcomes.

 

You’ll be joining a vibrant, supportive team that values collaboration and autonomy. Everyone brings their strengths to the table, working independently but always ready to back each other up. This is a computer-based role, perfect for someone who enjoys analysis, coordination, and bringing structure to complexity.

 

Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring

You’ll thrive in this role if you are organised, analytical, and confident building relationships across different levels of the business.

You’ll also have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in scheduling, logistics, or planning (freight or transport preferred)
  • Advanced data entry and MS Excel skills with excellent spreadsheeting knowledge
  • Analytical mind with ability to process complex calculations and interpret information for optimal solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to connect with a variety of stakeholders from senior leaders to operational teams
  • A practical, problem-solver who can make good decisions under pressure

Desirable:

  • Experience with complex rostering or scheduling systems
  • Understanding of the transport or rail industry
