He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
Based in the Auckland Rail Operations Centre, this is a critical role within our 24/7 operations. As a Traction & Systems Controller, you’ll monitor and control the Auckland and Wellington Electrified Traction Systems—keeping our national rail network running safely and smoothly around the clock. You’ll plan and operate electrical systems, diagnose faults, and coordinate with field and control room teams to ensure seamless operation. This role includes travel to Wellington for training and development, so adaptability is key.

To be successful, you’ll have:
• Previous experience working rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays
• Flexibility to travel to Wellington for extended training
• Familiarity with electrical systems or relevant technical knowledge
• A sharp eye for detail and commitment to learning new systems
• NCEA Level 1 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
• A full Class 1 driver’s licence
• An electrical qualification (desirable)
