He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

Based in Christchurch, you'll coordinate catering and luggage operations across our scenic trains. You’ll make sure our onboard teams are stocked with everything they need – from food and beverages to supplies – while ensuring quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. You'll also manage supplier relationships, maintain stock records, and help support special charter services. With safety at the heart of everything we do, you’ll play an important part in upholding high standards across the board.

We're looking for someone with a proactive attitude and strong attention to detail. You’ll be organised, energetic, and a great communicator. Your ability to adapt, problem-solve, and stay calm under pressure will set you up for success. You'll also bring:

 

  • Full, clean class 1 Drivers License

 

 

  • A safety-first mindset

 

 

  • Proven customer service skills and a professional, approachable manner

 

 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with confidence in radio communication

 

  • Physical fitness and resilience – this role is active, hands-on and includes heavy lifting

 

  • Ability to work independently using initiative with a ‘can-do’ mindset

 

  • High level of integrity and trust handling secure items (including alcohol), no serving required

 

  • Availability for rotating shift work, including weekends and public holidays

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience in catering, tourism, or related industries

 

  • Familiarity with food safety practices and inventory management 

 

 

  • Forklift license

 

  • NCEA level 2
