Title: Container Terminal Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Container Terminal Manager to lead operations at our Christchurch Container Terminal.

He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role
- Manage terminal-based staff, planning and day‑to‑day container terminal functions
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full operational compliance
- Drive On‑Time Performance and consistently deliver for our customers
- Lead, coach, and develop terminal staff, supporting their performance and training
- Influence positive outcomes, solve operational challenges, and keep the terminal running smoothly
- Bring clear decision‑making, strong relationship‑building skills, and an understanding of what it takes to meet service commitments in a fast‑paced freight environment
- Work Monday-Friday day shift, with an on-call component supporting 24/7 operations

- Strong leadership skills and ability to build high performing teams
- Sound experience in a unionised environment is preferred
- Exceptional problem solving and organising abilities to achieve high-end productivity results
- Proficient computer skills with experience using a range of customised software packages
- Proven ability to drive Health, safety and wellbeing and the ability to grow and shape our 'safety leaders'
- A strong customer focus with stakeholder relationship building skills
- Experience in freight or transport
- A full, clean drivers Licence with Class 2 and F endorsement is preferred
