Title:  Container Terminal Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Container Terminal Manager to lead operations at our Christchurch Container Terminal.

He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role

• Manage terminal-based staff, planning and day‑to‑day container terminal functions
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full operational compliance
• Drive On‑Time Performance and consistently deliver for our customers
• Lead, coach, and develop terminal staff, supporting their performance and training
• Influence positive outcomes, solve operational challenges, and keep the terminal running smoothly
• Bring clear decision‑making, strong relationship‑building skills, and an understanding of what it takes to meet service commitments in a fast‑paced freight environment
• Work Monday-Friday day shift, with an on-call component supporting 24/7 operations

• Strong leadership skills and ability to build high performing teams
• Sound experience in a unionised environment is preferred 
• Exceptional problem solving and organising abilities to achieve high-end productivity results 
• Proficient computer skills with experience using a range of customised software packages 
• Proven ability to drive Health, safety and wellbeing and the ability to grow and shape our 'safety leaders'
• A strong customer focus with stakeholder relationship building skills
• Experience in freight or transport
• A full, clean drivers Licence with Class 2 and F endorsement is preferred
