Title: Tour Operations Coordinator

Great Journeys of New Zealand offers unique rail travel experiences for domestic and international travel markets. Our Tour Operations team is looking for a self-starter with a keen eye for detail to support the research, planning, operational delivery and monitoring of our tour, packages and events experiences. This role is for an individual that has tour operations skills, financial acumen, a keen eye for detail and experience within the New Zealand travel industry.
He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
This varied role is for a fixed term duration of 12 months and reports to the Tour Operations Manager. It is responsible for assisting in the delivery of tour, group and customer travel products. In addition to ensuring GJNZ is continually delivering and innovating this role will ensure a keen focus on effective ways of working and continuous improvement.
- Assist with tour & group travel bookings and rostering of all tour guides
- Liaise with suppliers and supplier contracts
- Propose new ways to wow our customers through products, customer delivery techniques and on-board experiences
- Work with tour guides and suppliers to ensure products are consistently delivered to an exceptional quality
- Regularly report on tours and short breaks on what’s working, what’s not, tweaking and changing itineraries as required
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:
- 2+ years’ experience of tour / travel operations’
- Tertiary qualification business, operations, tourism or similar qualification or demonstrated relevant experience is ideal
- Financial acumen, ability to work with budgets and operate tours to expected budgets
- Experience with digital reservations systems
- Knowledge of New Zealand’s key tourism destinations and visitor activities is desirable
- Excellent written and verbal English, organisational skills and ability to multi-task
- Intermediate knowledge of productivity tools, such as MS office suite
