We have an opportunity for a Container Terminal Manager to oversee a key part of our Te Rapa Container Terminal operation. As a first line manager, you will manage your staff’s on-job performance, training and personal development. Be empowered to think laterally to drive situations and influence outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage key stakeholder engagement and build relationships with one of our largest customers
  • Display a natural affinity for problem-solving and be seen as a trusted subject matter expert to our customers
  • Represent commitment to safety and integrity
  • Take control of the Container Terminal operations team, equipment, operational budgets and functions associated
  • Customer centric operations specialist that will drive high performing safety culture
  • Focus on delivering on-time performance and champion service delivery

You'll need:

  • Proven operational or people leadership experience
  • Experience in freight or transport, ideally in a unionised environment
  • Customer‑focused mindset
  • Strong communication and stakeholder relationship‑building skills
  • Confidence analysing information and solving complex operational challenges
  • Ability to lead, support, and build high‑performing teams
  • Full, clean driver’s license (Class 2 and F endorsement is preferred)
