He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As a Traction Supervisor, you’ll lead and support our Traction Line Mechanics to ensure the safe, reliable operation of the overhead traction system across the rail network.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Establishing and maintaining a traction maintenance programme
- Guiding your team to deliver safe and efficient repairs, maintenance, and installations
- Investigating faults and ensuring corrective action is taken
- Promoting a strong safety culture by “walking the safety talk”
- Coaching and developing your team to grow their skills and confidence
This is a hands-on leadership role, working both in the depot and outdoors at heights. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring
We’re looking for someone who is committed to safety, enjoys leading people, and has strong technical knowledge of traction systems. You’ll also bring:
- Experience working in traction and supervising a team – 7+ years’ experience in traction is desirable
- Registration as a Traction Line Mechanic with an EWRB practising licence
- A current Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2 preferred)
- Confidence working at heights and outdoors in all conditions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve conflict constructively
- Computer literacy, with the ability to use Microsoft Office
It would be great if you also have:
- Additional licences, such as forklift or Class 2
