He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As a valued member of a KiwiRail maintenance team, you will work collaboratively to carry out maintenance, repairs, and renewals of rail infrastructure using approved methods.
Under the direction of a Track Ganger or Senior Track Maintainer, you’ll deliver work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You’ll receive ongoing guidance and on-the-job training (OJT) to build your capability and confidence to work independently over time.
Safety is at the core of everything we do. You’ll actively support KiwiRail’s Safety Health & Wellbeing culture by contributing in toolbox and start-up meetings, identifying and managing risks, and speaking up when needed. You’ll be expected to “walk the safety talk” and show leadership in keeping yourself and others safe.

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What (skills) you will bring:
· Carry out track maintenance, repairs, and renewals in line with standards (under supervision
where required)
· Perform basic welding tasks (if certified)
· Current Class 1 drivers Licence (Class 2 Desirable)
· Use hand tools and operate minor plant equipment safely
· Complete documentation accurately, including QA and reporting
· Contribute to team decisions and toolbox meetings
· Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach
· Complete required training, competencies, and ongoing upskilling
· Comply with all safety standards and statutory requirements
· Identify, report, and manage hazards and risks
· Support a strong safety culture and lead by example
· Report all incidents promptly
· Work towards progression into a Track Maintainer role
