He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

As a Trainee Track Worker, you’ll be part of a close-knit maintenance crew, learning how to keep our rail tracks safe and reliable. Under the guidance of experienced team members, you’ll carry out maintenance, repairs, and renewals on the track.

 

Your training will combine on-the-job learning with classroom sessions, giving you the skills to progress towards working independently. Safety will always come first, and you’ll be encouraged to speak up, ask questions, and contribute ideas to keep everyone out of harm’s way.

We’re looking for someone who is:

 

  • A quick learner who enjoys practical, hands-on work

 

  • A team player who communicates openly and respectfully

 

  • Physically active and able to work outdoors in all conditions

 

  • Flexible to work shifts, including night shift, overnights and call-outs once fully trained

 

  • Willing to travel and stay away when needed

 

  • Safety-focused, with a “can do” attitude

 

Essential:

 

  • NCEA Level 1 Maths and English (or equivalent)

 

  • Current Class 1 driver’s licence
