  • Hutt Workshops Based, Wellington Region  
  • Monday – Friday  
  • 7:30am – 4:00pm  
  • $28.93 - $42.20 per hour *Depending on experience* 
  • Overtime Available – *Penalty Rates Apply*  

 

The opportunity we have: 

Join our dynamic team at Hutt, where your electrical and mechanical prowess will thrive! As a crucial member, you'll dive into intriguing projects, wiring, fitting, and creatively solving electrical challenges to craft high-precision machinery and rail equipment such as Locomotives and passenger cars.   

 

You'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse team, collaborating closely with colleagues from all around the world! Collaborate alongside our diverse and enthusiastic production team, working with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure the quality and reliability of our products.   

Our current projects include locomotive overhauls, passenger car refurbishment and rail assets OPEX project, providing you with a rich panel of experiences.  

This role may see you working within all the different groups across the site.

 

Your Skills:  

  • First and foremost, you will enjoy learning new skills whilst working as part of a team  
  • A positive attitude, with the ability to follow procedures with Health and Safety at the forefront  
  • Trade Qualified (NZQA or Equivalent) at Level 4 or 5, (Non-Trade Qualifications with experience will also be reviewed). encompassing, electrical, maintenance, mechatronics. 
  • Proven ‘’on the tools’’ experience in industrial projects, manufacturing or engineering, showcasing your expertise 
  • A deep understanding of precision measurements and quality control and keen attention to detail, demonstrating a commitment to producing top-quality work,  
  • Problem-solving mindset and troubleshooting skills 

 

Key Responsibilities within the role will include but not limited to:   

  • Dive into electrical engineering drawings, and technical specs with precision 
  • Choose the right tools, testing device, materials, and methods for efficient task completion 
  • Ensure every electrical component meets the required specifications through meticulous measurement and inspection 
  • Team up with engineers to troubleshoot issues and brainstorm improvements.  
  • Uphold a safe, organized work environment, following all company policies and safety regulations 
  • Build, maintain and commission Rail assets.
