KiwiRail is a significant logistics operation - we're kept busy moving NZ's goods across the country. To do this we rely on our talented team to keep our fleet moving - and that's where you come in!


We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Logistics/Supply Chain student due to graduate this year, or recent graduate to join our Rolling Stock Asset Services team based in Hutt Workshops starting February 2022.


Your Role:

As a Logistics Graduate in the Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS) team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills, working alongside talented and experienced professionals. The RSAS team manages the full lifecycle of our rolling stock (locomotives, wagons and passenger cars) including fleet planning, engineering, procurement, commissioning, maintenance and asset management. We have committed to renewing a large portion of our locomotive fleet and introducing new technology to our asset management practice to enable remote condition monitoring and proactive condition-based maintenance.


We’re looking for someone who is interested in a role that has a great deal of variety including:


  • Stock trend analysis and managing stock
  • Producing stock reports
  • Liaising and negotiating with suppliers
  • Product supply & processing customer deliveries

Your Skills:

What will I need?


  • Relevant Logistics qualification (diploma/certificate)
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Strong analytical and data handling skills;
  • A high level of attention-to-detail;
  • Good numeracy.
  • Have recently graduated (within the last two years) or be graduating this year
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships quickly and effectively
  • A curious, proactive and innovative mindset
