He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
Based at Westfield depot, you’ll lead the safe and efficient delivery of track maintenance and renewal work for all yards and sidings within the Auckland and Greater Auckland region. You’ll be the first point of contact for Gangers and field staff, offering practical guidance to get the job done right—on time, to the right quality, and using agreed systems and methods. Working alongside Production Managers, planners, and engineers, you’ll ensure work is planned well, delivered safely, and reviewed thoroughly at key milestones. You’ll also help your teams grow—coaching Gangers, overseeing training and competencies, and fostering a high-performing, safety-first culture.


Please note this role is working the night shift and some travel and overnight stays may be required.

We’re looking for a practical leader who can combine field experience with strong planning and people skills. You will have:


•    Trade experience in construction or a related industry•    Proven leadership and mentoring skills
•    Strong organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
•    Knowledge of track engineering principles and relevant codes
•    Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
•    Familiarity with SAP/Maximo or similar planning systems
•    A commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing for all team members

 

Desirable:
•    Tertiary qualification in engineering (civil or structural)
•    Experience in rail or an operational transport environment
