We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner / Scheduler to join our Rolling Stock Asset Services team in Auckland.
Reporting to the Planning Delivery Leader, you will support our Locomotive team by planning and scheduling maintenance activities across locomotive depots. Your work will help ensure planned maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.
You will:
- Plan and schedule locomotive maintenance events across North Island depots
- Forecast and manage labour, materials, and resource requirements
- Coordinate planned work activities to support reliable fleet performance
- Communicate plans, schedules, and updates clearly with key stakeholders
- Support depots teams with practical planning guidance
- Drive continuous improvement across maintenance planning processes
This is a key role in helping KiwiRail deliver safe, reliable, and efficient locomotive operations across the North Island.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, analytical, and confident working in a fast-paced operational environment.
You will bring:
- 8+ years’ experience in complex planning and scheduling roles within a heavy industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling methodologies
- Extensive experience using best practice maintenance planning within a CMMS environment
- The ability to analyse, interpret, and present complex data clearly and effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including working closely with shop floor teams
- A strong focus on continuous improvement and improving maintenance practices
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and strong attention to detail
- The ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and priorities
A background in rail, transport, manufacturing, or another asset-intensive industry will be highly valued.
