We are looking for a qualified tradesperson (NZQA or Equivalent) at Level 4 or above, to fill a role on a mobile maintenance machine and to become part of our One Winning Team! 

 

  • Based in Auckland

  • Rate starting at $34.97- 39.70 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications). 

  • Full time, permanent. 

  • Shift Pattern is 10 days on, 4 days off - you'll be required to stay away from home for a 10-day period (Tuesday to the following Thursday).

What you’ll do 

 

Reporting to the National Plant Manager and with the full support of our Lead Technical Advisor you will support our Track Maintenance Group. You'll be responsible for the maintenance and repair and operation of one of our track maintenance machines, to industry codes and standards, ensuring availability of use. You'll also be required at times to support on other machines in the group. 

 

You'll carry out various maintenance checks and repairs on a travelling machine on site in remote locations across the country which involves working outdoors in all-weather conditions. Your home base will be Auckland and you'll cover Northland and Bay of Plenty rail network, however there will be travel to the South Island and other parts of the North Island when required. 

 

You'll be required to stay away from home for a 10-day period (Tuesday to the following Thursday), the shift pattern being 10 days on and 4 days off. 
  

What you’ll need 

 

You'll be committed to supporting a team environment and be self-directed to undertake unsupervised repairs and maintenance. You'll also have a commitment to safe working practices and Zero Harm principles. 

  

To be successful in this role you'll have prior experience in a mechanical environment, preferably within heavy industry or the automobile industry. You'll have experience in machine upgrades, or experience in heavy equipment, wagon, ship, or similar environments. 

 

In addition, you'll have: 

 

  • National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering /Trade qualification (NZQA or Equivalent) at Level 4 or 5. 

  • Ability to work as part of a team. 

  • Relevant experience in labouring or manual work. 

  • Experience with determining service and repair requirements and in performing maintenance of plant equipment to M9000 code compliance. 

  • Possession of current, clean NZ Class 1 drivers licence (Class 2 is desirable). 

  • Experience in fault finding process including low voltage, auto electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics. 

  • Ability to read shop drawings, plans and machine manuals
