He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role: 

Based at our Westfield Depot in Otahuhu, this leadership role is all about managing and supporting our Signals, Telecommunications, and Electrical (STE) teams across the metro network. 

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of up to 20 team members, ensuring critical maintenance and renewal projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard. Your focus on safety, performance, and operational efficiency will help us keep the network running reliably, while also planning for the future. 

You’ll work closely with internal and external partners, balance budgets, and help shape continuous improvement initiatives that support our commitment to excellence.

We’re looking for a safety-focused, people-first leader who can guide a high-performing technical team. You'll need: 

  • Proven leadership experience in an operational or engineering environment 

  • Knowledge of rail signalling, telecommunications, or electrical infrastructure 

  • Strong organisational and communication skills 

  • Budget management experience and an eye for operational efficiency 

  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement 

  • A current New Zealand driver’s licence 

  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug screening 

 

Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Level 4 qualification in Electrical, Telecommunications, or Mechanical Engineering 

  • Railway signalling certification or relevant tertiary qualification 

  • Familiarity with project delivery and workforce planning
