KiwiRail is New Zealand's national railway, employing talented people in a wide range of business functions.  Our teams are responsible for maintaining 4,000 kilometres of rail corridor, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, overhead wires, signals, and level crossings and that is where you come in. 

 

We have several projects to deliver across the Auckland region and have a few permanent positions available from entry level to experienced Track Workers who are looking for an opportunity within the rail industry!

 

Your Role:

As a member of our maintenance teams, you will work in a team environment carrying out maintenance, repairs, and renewals of the infrastructure in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.  Working on the Railway is very dynamic, you could be installing, repairing, or renewing track, working in tunnels or on bridges. You will enjoy working in a small team ensuring you get the opportunity to build great working relationships with your co-workers.

 

This is an outdoor role so you will need to be physically fit, willing to work in all weather conditions and not afraid to get your hands dirty. If you enjoy problem solving in a fast-paced outdoor environment, willing to learn new skills and secure yourself a career, the railway could be for you!

 

Your Skills:

A Clean NZ Drivers Licence, Class 1 is essential in this role. It would also be advantageous to have a Class 2 (HT Licence) but if not, we can support you in getting one if it's required in your role.

 

Ideally, you will have experience within the rail or construction industry or within a heavy labouring environment with experience using light mechanical hand tools.  Because of this experience we will be looking for you to be able to demonstrate the ability to follow safety guidelines and be results driven.

 

A solid level of both verbal and written communication in English is also important in this role.

 

You must also be able to pass a Ministry of Justice check and complete a mandatory medical and drug test to be considered for this role.
