We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager based at our Picton terminal. In this role, you will be responsible for the day to day leadership of the people and functions associated with the movement of freight in and out of the Terminal. These functions include rolling stock availability; departure timeliness, service performance, health & safety, cost management, including labour costs; (i.e. overtime, leave, hours of work, rostering), fuel costs; maintenance and repair costs of all equipment, buildings and track.

 

We are looking for an experienced operational leader, who believes in getting dirt on their boots, working alongside and developing their people to achieve and grow in their roles. You will understand the customer is the reason we do what we do and that doing that safely is of paramount importance.

Your Skillset:

  • Demonstrated experience within a supervisory/management role within a heavy industrial/unionised environment
  • Project management experience
  • Expertise in analysing, evaluating and problem-solving, risks and unplanned supply disruptions (forward thinking, organised and resilient)
  • Basic working knowledge of NZ employment and health and safety legislation
  • Understanding of a Zero Harm culture and what that means for the organisation, our people, the community and environment
