He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

We're seeking a Trainee Track Worker to join our Stratford team. This is a great opportunity to start a hands-on, practical career with purpose. 

You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues to maintain and repair the rail network infrastructure. Through on-the-job and formal training, you’ll develop the skills to keep New Zealand’s rail system running smoothly and safely. 

What you’ll do: 

• Maintain and repair tracks and associated infrastructure 
• Learn to operate tools and light machinery (training provided) 
• Work outdoors in all-weather as part of a safety-first team 
• Be available for a day shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm 
• Occasionally support nationwide infrastructure projects

You’ll be someone who takes pride in a job well done, works well in a team, and wants to learn. 

We’re looking for: 

• A clean New Zealand Class 1 Driver’s Licence (essential) 
• A Class 2 (HT) Licence is a bonus – or we can help you get one if needed 
• Physical fitness and willingness to work in outdoor, hands-on environments 
• Experience in construction or using mechanical tools (helpful but not essential) 
• A strong focus on health and safety 
• Good verbal and written communication 
• The ability to pass Ministry of Justice, medical, and drug/alcohol checks
