We're seeking a Trainee Track Worker to join our Stratford team. This is a great opportunity to start a hands-on, practical career with purpose.
You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues to maintain and repair the rail network infrastructure. Through on-the-job and formal training, you’ll develop the skills to keep New Zealand’s rail system running smoothly and safely.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain and repair tracks and associated infrastructure
- Learn to operate tools and light machinery (training provided)
- Work outdoors in all-weather as part of a safety-first team
- Be available for a day shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm
- Occasionally support nationwide infrastructure projects

You’ll be someone who takes pride in a job well done, works well in a team, and wants to learn.
We’re looking for:
- A clean New Zealand Class 1 Driver’s Licence (essential)
- A Class 2 (HT) Licence is a bonus – or we can help you get one if needed
- Physical fitness and willingness to work in outdoor, hands-on environments
- Experience in construction or using mechanical tools (helpful but not essential)
- A strong focus on health and safety
- Good verbal and written communication
- The ability to pass Ministry of Justice, medical, and drug/alcohol checks
