He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

As a Customer Logistics Specialist, you will ensure freight is booked, managed, and delivered on time and to specification. You will coordinate road and rail movements, manage bookings, and respond to customer enquiries.

This is a front-line, customer-focused role operating on a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights and weekends.

You will:

  • Manage freight bookings to maximise train utilisation
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to move cargo efficiently
  • Respond to customer enquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Monitor delays and implement recovery plans when disruptions occur
  • Maintain accurate reporting, forecasting, and data analysis
  • Promote and lead safe work practices in all activities

Safety is central to this role. You will lead by example and support a zero harm environment.

We are looking for someone who thrives under pressure, is highly customer-focused, and brings strong communication skills to a dynamic, operational environment.

You will bring:

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in customer focused or contact centre environment, ideally withing freight or logistics.
  • The ability to remain calm, organised and solution focused under pressure esp. working with across different systems and processes
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook
  • Confidently navigate and manage multiple systems simultaneously to support operations
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet timeframes
  • A team-focused approach with a strong commitment to safety

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience in freight, shipping, or transport
  • Exposure to shift work in a 24/7 or shift based contact centre environment
  • Knowledge of customer management systems
  • Understanding of New Zealand geography
