He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:

As a full-time Customer and Corporate Host at Wellington Railway Station, you are the first point of contact for visitors, contractors, and colleagues. You ensure our reception and corporate spaces reflect KiwiRail’s professionalism and high standards.

You manage reception operations, support building services, and maintain secure and well-organised workspaces. You also support the part-time Customer and Corporate Host to ensure consistent service delivery.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming visitors and managing the main switchboard
  • Coordinating couriers, mail, and deliveries
  • Providing visitor access cards and managing security registers
  • Supporting meeting room set-ups and catering requirements
  • Managing kitchen supplies and stocktakes
  • Overseeing contractor access and key registers
  • Maintaining tidy reception and shared spaces
  • Acting as Fire Warden for the reception area

You work with teams across the business and respond to changing priorities with professionalism and care. You follow clear procedures and help maintain a safe and secure workplace for everyone onsite.

This is a permanent full-time role based at Wellington Railway Station.

You will bring:

  • Experience in reception, administration, or customer service
  • Strong communication skills and professional presentation
  • Confidence managing calls and welcoming diverse visitors
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure
  • A customer-focused mindset and strong relationship skills
  • Confidence dealing with a range of personalities
  • A proactive approach to health, safety, and wellbeing

You will also:

  • Be comfortable using computer systems for records and access control
  • Be able to lift and carry items up to 20kg occasionally
  • Pass regular drug and alcohol screening
  • Have completed at least four years of secondary schooling
