He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As a Design Planner, you will oversee the delivery planning of design projects across KiwiRail’s infrastructure. You’ll make sure schedules are realistic, projects are aligned, and resources are in place to get the job done. Working closely with designers, project managers, and production teams, you’ll create and maintain rolling plans, provide forecasts, and keep stakeholders informed. Your work will bridge design and delivery, ensuring projects stay on track and contribute to KiwiRail’s long-term goals.

This is a permanent role based in either Wellington or Auckland, reporting to the Integrated Planning Team Leader.

 

Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring


We’re looking for someone who can combine strong planning skills with great teamwork. You will bring:


•    Experience in project planning, scheduling, and forecasting – ideally within infrastructure or rail.
•    Ability to develop and maintain integrated design schedules and manage dependencies.
•    Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience using tools like P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel.
•    A proactive approach to identifying risks and solving problems.
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
•    A relevant engineering, project management, or equivalent qualification.
•    A full New Zealand driver’s licence and willingness to travel when needed.
