He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As the Facilities Planning & Scheduling Manager, you’ll take the lead in shaping how KiwiRail manages and maintains its property assets. You’ll be the go-to expert for lifecycle asset planning across our regional facilities, making sure investment plans are smart, forward-thinking, and in line with regulatory standards. This role is central to ensuring our buildings and environments support safe and efficient rail operations across the country. Working closely with regional managers, project teams, and compliance experts, you’ll provide insight and leadership on everything from budgeting to scheduling — with a sharp focus on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of technical skills and collaborative leadership, including:
• Experience in property planning, facilities management, engineering, or similar fields
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills
• Knowledge of asset lifecycle management and maintenance planning
• Familiarity with government regulations related to buildings, health and safety, heritage, and the environment
• The ability to prioritise, forecast, and manage OPEX and minor CAPEX budgets
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and systems maintenance
• A current NZ driver’s licence is preferred
Desirable:
• Tertiary qualification in property, planning, environmental, architectural, engineering or some other related field
• Experience managing facilities in commercial or industrial environments
• People leadership and mentoring experience
