Based at our offices in Wellington, we now have an opportunity for a CAD Designer to join our Engineering team!  You will be flexible in working in multi-disciplinary projects and assisting engineering teams with their chosen discipline – Track, Structural, Civil, Electrical and Signals.  Ultimately, we are looking for you to take a concept design from an engineer and with your knowledge, skills and abilities put that into a drawing.

 

The primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Support the Engineering discipline teams in using CAD and BIM systems to produce, review, and amend 2D and 3D designs.
  • Perform quality control activities and support the development and maintenance of document management systems and processes.
  • Provide training to support best practice CAD design and documentation processes.
  • Drive efficiency, improvement, and development of KiwiRail design systems and processes.
  • Manage the scope and delivery of external support resources to ensure the outcomes are cost effective and fit-for-purpose.
  • Support KiwiRail to establish and maintain industry best practice approach to digital engineering functions.

 

In addition to the points above this position will be an active, positive, and contributing member of the Planning and Engineering Team and be prepared to work across the team, provide efficient best practice railway infrastructure design.

 

Your Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Recognised qualification in technical drawing with affiliation with Engineering NZ or equivalent being highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of engineering design terminology and processes
  • At least 5 years’ experience in CAD operation within an engineering environment and across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience working with 2D and 3D images and modelling
  • Experience working with ISO or equivalent quality systems
