Create and foster premium tourism market relationships for Scenic Rail. Align our sales strategy to our transformed customer offering.

We are currently in the planning stages of our Scenic rail transformation which will deliver a true Manuhiri experience for our tourism customers. The experience will be much more than a rail journey and will include connecting in to New Zealand and telling the story of Aotearoa. This will be done through sight, taste and sound, and will create an experience that people will travel the world to come and embrace.

 

Your Role:

This is a newly created role reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager. The role will be accountable for aligning our sales and marketing channels to the future direction of Scenic trains. We offer an opportunity to review and shape our sales channels to ensure they align with a premium tourism offering. This role will see you utilise all of your sales and marketing experience to grow our tourist base and ensure profitability.

 

Driving sales and revenue targets for the business by establishing, developing and maintaining key customer relationships with our key retail, groups business and international and domestic commercial partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Protect and maximise revenue, whilst exploring new business opportunities that ensure revenue growth
  • Developing the relationships with key international wholesale and IBO partners
  • Work closely with the Sales & Marketing Managers on new business opportunities
  • Develop the rail charter business (including cruise charters), Corporate Incentives & Convention travel for Scenic Journeys. 

 

A key measurement of success will be your ability to grow our tourism business and create new opportunities.

This is a key role in the Scenic team and therefore the successful candidate needs to understand and deliver sales and pricing strategies that will deliver growth in B2B and B2C environments.

Your Skills:

You will have a strong sales background, preferably in the premium tourism sector, with the ability to research and deliver a channel strategy that allows Scenic Rail to successfully introduce a new premium product to the market. Naturally you will have an ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships within Kiwirail, and with our external tourism partners.
