We have an opportunity for a First Officer Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, working on a Live on-Board, 7 days on, 7 days off roster.


Te whiwhinga mahi – The Opportunity

 In this key role as First Officer Engineer you will plan, coordinate and monitor the operation and work of the engineering department to ensure that all relevant systems and equipment are cost effectively maintained in a safe and reliable condition.


You will ensure consistency with the principles of good marine engineering practice to maximise both the strategic and commercial objectives of Interislander.

Your extensive engineering management experience, strong financial exposure to budgets and previous staff management will ensure your success in the role.


Key requirements for applicants include:

  • Hold STCW III/2 Chief Engineer Certificate (NZ Class 1 Motor)
  • Current and Valid STCW Basic and Advanced certificates
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Sound technical knowledge
  • Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (i.e. Amos)
