He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:

The Lead Governance Advisor is a pivotal role in a State-Owned Enterprise subject to the Companies Act and the State-Owned Enterprise Act to provide leadership and support for the smooth operation of KiwiRail’s governance. Supporting the Head of Legal, Chief General Counsel, Board Chair, Directors, and Committees, you’ll drive efficient decision-making processes and deliver high-quality company governance support. This role is instrumental in upholding KiwiRail’s commitment to excellence in governance practices.

Maintain and update governance policies and systems, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory standards.
Serve as a liaison to support high quality communication and information between the Board, management, and external parties regarding policy and governance issues.
Ensure a smooth flow of information to and from the Board, including updates from Shareholding Ministers and other key stakeholders.
Facilitating efficient communication and decision-making across multiple levels of the organisation, including high-level stakeholders.
Ensure all governance materials meet confidentiality and accuracy standards.
Embed KiwiRail’s safety-first culture into governance processes and decision-making.

Proven experience in a governance or legal roles.
Strong knowledge of governance practices and statutory compliance.
Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
