He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:

Due to internal promotion, we have an opportunity for a Motorman to join our team on a permanent basis. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the repair and maintenance of machinery components in accordance with the Third Officer Engineer’s instructions.

You will:

• Inspect and report defects and damage to cargo spaces, hatch covers and ballast tanks
• Check machinery and equipment is running properly as directed by watch keeping officers
• Ensure the engine room is clean
• Prevent, control and fight fires on board
• Operate life-saving appliances and in an emergency carry out duties as assigned by the Third Officer Engineer

Health and Safety is an important part of how KiwiRail operates. You will be a safety leader and will be expected to “walk the safety talk”.

The successful applicant will have:

• STCW approved watch keeping licence
• Watch rating competence in accordance with STCW111/4 and as required flag administration
• GMDSS
