He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:

As our National Asset Manager, you’ll lead the development and implementation of best practice asset management across our national rail infrastructure. Reporting to the General Manager of Engineering and Asset Management, you’ll drive the strategic, tactical, and operational planning that supports KiwiRail’s commitment to safe, reliable, and future-focused infrastructure.

This is a senior role with influence across the business. You’ll play a key part in shaping and delivering our Asset Management Plans (AMPs), aligned with the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and ISO55000 standards. Working across teams and regions, you’ll foster consistency, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring our infrastructure assets support long-term operational excellence.

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What (skills) you will bring:

We’re looking for someone with strong technical expertise and a people-first leadership style. You will bring:

·       10+ years’ experience in infrastructure engineering

·       5–10 years’ prior experience in asset management, ideally aligned with ISO55001

·       A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or asset management

·       Proven ability to lead change across diverse teams and influence across complex organisations

·       Understanding of whole-of-life asset planning and data-driven decision-making

·       Familiarity with regulatory standards, lifecycle modelling, and deterioration modelling

·       A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering customer-focused outcomes

·       A current full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel across New Zealand
