He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As our Regulatory Advisor, you’ll play a key role in maintaining KiwiRail’s strong and trusted relationships with regulators and industry partners. You’ll support health and safety compliance and ensure our rail and maritime operations meet all regulatory safety expectations.
Working across KiwiRail and with agencies such as Maritime NZ, Waka Kotahi, WorkSafe, and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC), you’ll help manage investigations, approvals, and audits that keep our people and customers safe.
This role is based in Wellington, though we welcome applicants from other locations.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:
You’ll be an experienced health and safety or regulatory professional who can confidently balance technical requirements with practical advice. You’ll bring:
• At least five years’ experience in a health and safety related regulatory role
• Broad experience in complex or high-risk industries, ideally transport or heavy plant
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, practical insights
• Excellent relationship management skills and the confidence to engage with regulators and senior stakeholders
• Proven ability to deliver under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• A collaborative, safety-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement
