He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As our SAP Technical Writer, you’ll play a key part in standardising and simplifying KiwiRail’s asset and engineering systems.
You’ll develop clear, accurate documentation that helps our people use SAP processes confidently and consistently across the business.
Collaborating closely with engineers, asset managers, and subject matter experts, you’ll translate complex technical information into user-friendly materials — from manuals and maintenance guides to standard operating procedures. Your work will support safe, efficient operations and strong asset management practices across KiwiRail.
This is a fixed-term role based in Auckland or Wellington.
Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:
We’re looking for someone who can turn complex systems into clear, practical guidance. You’ll bring:
- 5+ years’ experience with SAP systems and related documentation
- Strong writing and editing skills, with an eye for clarity and accuracy
- Experience developing technical documents such as manuals, SOPs, or reports
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organisational and document control skills
- A relevant engineering degree or post-tertiary qualification
- A current NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel when needed
Desirable:
- Familiarity with asset management or engineering environments
- Industry certification in technical writing or document management
